Trio client, award-winning wines producer, Crown Range Cellar launched a unique, international-style wine lounge and club in Parnell on May 16, 2019. The lounge is set to become a magnet for those who not only enjoy fine wine from iconic New Zealand producers but also fine vintages from other high-quality winemakers in Europe and elsewhere.
Set in an old brick-lined, courtyard in Parnell’s artist precinct, the Crown Range Cellar lounge surroundings evoke a feeling of a typical French or Italian vineyard. However, the interior boasts a sophisticated private club vibe with styling that speaks to the winery’s Otago heritage in autumnal colours.
The concept is the culmination of seven years’ work that started in 2012 between talented entrepreneur Jing Song and veteran winemaker Grant Taylor. Working together they have created a range of hand-crafted wines that have wowed wine tasters, picking up more than 50 gold medals, trophies and 90+ point reviews from the likes of James Suckling, Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker.
“What makes this lounge unique is its focus on quality, education and access to a range of wines not found anywhere else in New Zealand,” says managing director, Jing Song.
Now the facility has an elegant, architecturally-designed, space that can be configured for a range of events. The main lounge can cater for private members’ cocktail parties for 80 or so guests or seated events for around 30 guests. The main lounge operates a bar service open to the public Thursday to Saturday nights when there are no private functions booked. These nights showcase Crown Range Cellar’s premium ranges such as China Girl, Signature Selection, Fame, Drowsy Fish, Moon Rock and Stolen Heart.
Adjoining the main lounge is the select Club room for 12 people. Ideal for board meetings, private dinners or guest wine-tastings, the club room is only available to club members and features a humidor and wine fridge displaying the very best wines from Jing and Grant’s private collection – all available to enjoy in the lounge.
